Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximian facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the robust late Roman provincial style typical of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's radiate crown is replaced here by a laurel wreath, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the ruler as Maximianus Augustus. The flan shows characteristic irregular striking with a beaded border partially visible around the periphery.
