| Aanvullende informatie |
Caesarea in Cappadocia operated under a distinctly Roman administrative arrangement, its mint producing silver coinage tied closely to the movements and titles of the imperial house. The tribunician and consular titulature on this piece helps narrow its date within Commodus's reign — ΥΠΑΤΟϹ Δ indicating his fourth consulship, held in 183 AD, alongside the *pater patriae* title formally accepted that same year.
Cappadocian silver of Commodus is notably scarcer than the bronze civic output of the region, and far less frequently encountered than contemporary Roman denarii.
