Reverse description The goddess Roma is depicted seated to the left upon a throne or rock, helmeted and in military dress, holding a small figure of Nike (Victory) in her extended right hand and a sheathed sword or sceptre in her left. The composition reflects the imperial iconography associating Roman military virtue with divine favour. The field to the right bears the regnal year in Greek numerals, rendered as L Ϛ (year 6, corresponding to 59–60 AD), a dating convention standard to Alexandrian tetradrachms. The legend ΡΩΜΗ identifies the enthroned figure as Roma, goddess and personification of the city of Rome.
