Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, depicted standing to the right atop a globe symbolising universal Roman dominion. She is shown in a flowing draped garment with large spread wings, extending a wreath aloft in her right hand and holding a long palm-branch in her left. The composition reflects the Roman imperial victory iconography adapted within a Hellenistic provincial artistic tradition. The surrounding Greek legend reads Η ΝΕΙΚΗ ΡΩΜΑΙΩΝ, meaning 'The Victory of the Romans', a direct reference to the Parthian campaigns of Lucius Verus conducted under the nominal joint rule of Marcus Aurelius. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a beaded border visible on portions of the rim.
