| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Greek style, with finely detailed hair and laurel wreath. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ Π Π ΥΠ Γ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The die work is characteristic of the Pontic civic mint at Amisus, displaying competent but slightly informal engraving typical of provincial issues of the Hadrianic period. |
