Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Carinus facing right, portrayed in three-quarter front view. The emperor's effigy displays characteristic late Roman imperial portraiture with visible paludamentum and armour detailing. The encircling Greek legend reads Α Κ Μ Α ΚΑΡΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor with his imperial titulature. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with Alexandrian billon tetradrachm coinage of the period.
