| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hermes standing facing, head turned to the left, depicted in the classical nude or semi-draped manner typical of Hellenistic divine imagery on Pontic civic coinage. The god extends his right hand holding the caduceus, his distinctive attribute as messenger and god of commerce, particularly appropriate for the prosperous trading city of Amisus. The surrounding Greek legend in the field and periphery records the city's name, its status as a free city (ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΑϹ), and the civic era date ΡΞϚ (year 166), corresponding to 134–135 CE. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly raised border. |
