Obverse description Bare laureate head of Emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in a naturalistic portrait style typical of Flavian imperial coinage. The legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan, reading IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS III TR P P P. The portrait displays characteristic features of Vespasian — a broad, slightly aged face with short hair rendered in tight curls. The coin exhibits the irregular, slightly convex flan characteristic of provincial silver issues struck at Ephesus.
