Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Vespasian facing right, depicted with a draped shoulder, rendered in the characteristic Flavian portrait style with realistic, slightly aged facial features. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief at the centre of the flan. The circumferential Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS V TR P P P, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles and his fifth consulship, consistent with a dating of AD 74. The legend is distributed around the periphery of the coin in clear Roman capitals.
