Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Claudius facing right, depicted with characteristic Julio-Claudian portraiture. The legend surrounding the effigy is rendered in Greek characters and reads ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥΔΙ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙ ΑΥΤΟΚ(Ρ), abbreviating his full imperial titulature. The regnal year date L Β (Year 2, corresponding to AD 41-42) appears in the field. The portrait style reflects the Alexandrian mint's distinctive provincial treatment of imperial imagery.
