Tetricus I issued coins bearing the LAETITIA AVGG legend — "joy of the two Augusti" — while his empire was collapsing around him. The plural title acknowledged his son Tetricus II as co-ruler, a dynastic gesture made while Aurelian was systematically dismantling the breakaway Gallic Empire from the east. The reign ended at the Battle of Châlons in 273, after which, unusually, Aurelian spared both men and installed Tetricus I as a civil administrator in southern Italy.
AGK 6a is among the more frequently encountered varieties of this type, consistent with the heavy output from the Cologne mint during these final years.
