| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hercules depicted standing in three-quarter view facing right, his weight shifted onto his left leg in a contrapposto stance, leaning upon his grounded club with his right hand. In his left arm he carries the Nemean lion's skin, while a bow is held in his right hand or visible in the field. The reverse legend HERC DEVSONIENSI, invoking Hercules of Deuso (a Gallic locality associated with the god's cult), is disposed around the periphery of the flan. The type reflects Postumus's deliberate identification with Hercules as a divine patron and protector of the Gallic Empire. |
