| Obverse lettering | MAXIMIANVS P F AVG (Translation: Maximianus, the pious, the fortunate, emperor (Augustus)) |
| Reverse description | Hercules standing right before the apple-tree of the Hesperides, his club resting in his right hand and one of the golden apples held in his left. A serpent is entwined around the tree behind him, referencing the eleventh labor of Hercules. The composition alludes to the divine patronage of Hercules over Maximianus, a central theme of Tetrarchic ideology. The reverse legend VIRTVS AVGG encircles the design, and the mintmark XXIT appears in the exergue. |
