| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximianus facing right, rendered in the robust, martial style characteristic of the Tetrarchic period. The emperor wears a radiate crown — the distinctive mark of the antoninianus denomination — above a heavily bearded, powerful physiognomy. The cuirass is visible at the shoulder, conveying imperial military authority. The encircling legend reads IMP C M AVR VAL MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, beginning at the lower left and running clockwise around the bust. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
