(Translation: Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Maximianus Pius Felix Augustus. Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar Marcus Aurelius Maximianus, the pious, the fortunate, emperor (Augustus).)
Reverse description Hercules standing left, his muscular figure rendered in the conventional Tetrarchic style, holding a club upright in his right hand and the Nemean lion's skin together with a bow in his left hand. The reverse design reflects the explicit association of Emperor Maximianus with Hercules as his divine patron and protector, a central element of Tetrarchic dynastic ideology. The Latin legend HERCVLI CONSERVAT surrounds the figure, invoking Hercules as preserver of the emperor. The exergue contains the mint mark TXXIT, identifying the issuing mint and officina.
