| Obverse lettering | IMP DIOCLETIANVS P AVG (Translation: Imperator Diocletianus Pius Augustus. Supreme commander (Imperator), Diocletian, the pious, emperor (Augustus).) |
| Reverse description | The personification of Securitas (Security) stands facing, her head turned to the right, in a relaxed contrapposto pose with legs crossed. She raises her right hand to her head in a gesture of ease and rests her left elbow upon a tall column, her draped figure conveying an attitude of assured calm. The reverse legend appears in the field to either side of the figure, and the officina letter P is recorded in the exergue. The composition exemplifies the standardized allegorical reverse types employed throughout Diocletian's coinage to communicate imperial ideology. |
