| Obverse description | Radiate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Diocletian facing right, depicted in military attire with the characteristic spiked radiate crown of the antoninianus denomination. The portrait presents the emperor in a strong, authoritative profile typical of Tetrarchic-era coinage. The encircling obverse legend reads IMP C VAL DIOCLETIANVS AVG, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The cuirass is rendered with detail visible at the shoulder, conveying martial authority. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck production at the Ticinum mint. |
