| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head and an aegis adorned with scaled texture across the chest and shoulder. The goddess is depicted in fine Hellenistic style with carefully rendered facial features and flowing hair visible beneath the helmet brim. The aegis terminates in a serpentine border visible at the lower left of the bust. No legend appears in the field on this side. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Apameia on the Maeander was a prosperous Phrygian city whose civic bronze coinage from this period names local magistrates — here Antiphon and Menekleos — as issuing authorities, a practice that tied municipal prestige directly to coin production. The city suffered badly during the First Mithridatic War, when much of inland Asia Minor was devastated, and civic minting effectively collapsed in many centers. That Apameia resumed issuing named-magistrate bronzes suggests its recovery was relatively swift.
