Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, depicted in a bare-shouldered truncation with a St. Edward's Crown rendered in fine detail. The portrait, engraved by Percy Metcalfe, is positioned centrally within the square flan with rounded, scalloped corners. A beaded inner border frames the design. The circular legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, distributed around the upper and lower periphery of the field.

Reverse description Central field bears the denomination expressed as a large interlocking '½ ANNA' monogram, with the date 1943 below and the country name INDIA above, all within a decorative scalloped cartouche. The value '½ Anna' is additionally inscribed in four regional scripts — Bengali and Devanagari on the left, Urdu on the right, and Telugu at the base — each appearing in the respective corner panels of the square flan. A floral ornament appears at the top of the cartouche, enhancing the decorative composition.
