| Obverse description | Bust of Johannes Gutenberg facing slightly right, bearded and wearing a period hat, depicted in high relief against a detailed background featuring the Haut-Kœnigsbourg castle. Two gilt heraldic shields flank the figure in the lower field, with a gilt border decorated with fleurs-de-lis surrounding the silver inner zone.
