| 背面描述 | A galley depicted in left profile, shown under sail with a mast and triangular sail amidships, six oars, five rowers, and a stern rudder. The vessel, emblematic of Allectus's naval power and control of the Channel fleet, occupies the central field. Allectus ruled Britain for barely three years after murdering Carausius, the man who had built the Britannic breakaway state from nothing. His reign ended in 296 when Constantius I's fleet landed in force; Allectus died in the field, reportedly before a coherent defense could be organized. Coins from his final year are correspondingly scarce.
The billon content by this point was negligible — effectively bronze with a surface wash. This was not unique to the Britannic mint but reflects the general collapse of silver coinage across the third-century empire.
