Obverse description Hammered silver akçe with an irregular flan bearing a two-line Arabic legend in bold thuluth script occupying the upper half of the field, reading 'Sultan Selim bin Sultan Suleiman,' establishing the sultan's name and dynastic lineage. A horizontal ruled line divides the inscription field, below which a six-pointed star motif appears prominently in the centre of the lower field. Additional Arabic script elements and decorative flourishes fill the lower portion of the coin, characteristic of Ottoman hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The flan edges are uneven and irregular, typical of hand-struck production at provincial mints.
