| Obverse description | Central field features the titulature of Sultan al-Mansur Ahmad within a double hexalobe border inscribed in a circle, with the mint name Amid (Diyarbakır) and the regnal year rendered in words within the lobes. | Obverse lettering | [...] السلطان الملك المنصور خلد الله ملكه [...] ضرب أمد (Translation: Al-Sultan [...] Al Malik Al-Muzaffar Khallada Allah mulkahu: `The Sultan [...], the ruler al-Mansur [Ahmad], may God perpetuate his kingdom.` Duriba bi Mardin [...]: `Struck Mardin...) |
| Reverse description | The opening words of the first shahada (kalima) are inscribed in two lines within a central circle adorned with a ring of globules, with the continuation of the profession of faith distributed across the fields of a projecting quadrilobe inscribed within an outer circle. The names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — are inscribed between each lobe. A decorative girdle and an interlaced infinite knot motif occupy the center, characteristic of the intricate geometric ornamentation found on late Artuqid coinage. |
