| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold, raised Ottoman script, giving the sultan's name and titles. The legend reads 'Sultan Ahmed Khan, son of Mahmud,' arranged across three lines within the coin's circular field. The inscription is enclosed by a prominent rope or pellet border running along the coin's periphery. The die-struck lettering is characteristic of the late hammered Ottoman akce tradition, with deeply cut strokes and irregular flan shaping. No pictorial device or figural element is present, the composition being entirely epigraphic in the classical Ottoman manner. |
