| Descrizione del dritto | Agnus Dei depicted standing left with head turned to the right, nimbus radiating behind the head, supporting a long processional cross with a pennant or banner flying from the staff; the entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle inscribed with a series of arcs forming a decorative border. The design follows the established Franco-Flemish agnel type, rendered in the high Gothic manner characteristic of mid-fourteenth century Low Countries gold coinage. The field within the circle is plain, directing full visual emphasis to the Lamb of God motif. The surrounding legend is struck in Gothic lettering, invoking the Agnus Dei prayer and identifying the issuing count. |
