The piece features a broad, arched upper ridge terminating in two outward-curving lobes at each end, beneath which descend five rounded projections of alternating height, evoking the characteristic fan-shaped fronds of the palmette motif. The surface is undecorated and uninscribed, retaining a rough cast texture consistent with pre-monetary bronze currency of pre-Roman central Italy. Patination is a deep olive-brown with areas of cuprite and green corrosion products. |
