| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two tetrastyle or pentastyle temple facades facing one another in a three-quarter perspective view, their columned fronts partially visible and converging toward the center of the field; above each temple, a wreath is depicted. This ambitious architectural composition celebrates Sardis's status as a twice-neocorate city — an honor granted for housing two imperial cult temples — and is among the most elaborate reverse types known from the Sardian mint. The surrounding legend records the presiding magistrate, his civic title, and the city's honorific designations. The overall design exemplifies the monumental civic pride expressed through Severan-era provincial bronze coinage. |
