Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, seen from the front, rendered in the provincial Greek style with elaborate drapery folds visible at the shoulder and chest. The imperial effigy is boldly struck in high relief, with the laureate wreath clearly articulated above the curled hair. The encircling Greek legend runs along the beaded border from left to right. The portrait conveys the characteristic youthful features associated with Elagabalus on Lydian civic coinage of this period.
