Reverse description Zeus enthroned to the left, seated on a high-backed throne, his upper body nude, holding a long sceptre in his left hand and an eagle perched on his extended right hand. The god is depicted in a majestic, hieratic pose typical of Lydian civic coinage, with fine engraving of the throne and figure details. The encircling Greek legend in two registers names the local strategos and the civic ethnic of the Thyateirians. The reverse field is broad, making use of the large flan characteristic of this exceptional Æ45 issue.
