| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, the cuirass decorated with a Gorgoneion (Gorgon's head) at the centre, depicted in three-quarter frontal view. The portrait is rendered in the conventional Roman provincial style, with the imperial titulature legend encircling the bust within the coin's periphery. The flan is large and slightly irregular, characteristic of Lydian civic bronze coinage of the Severan period. |
