| Beschrijving keerzijde | Elaborate civic allegory depicting Gaia (Earth) and Thalassa (Sea) jointly supporting a statue of Caracalla standing left in military dress, holding a patera in his right hand and a sceptre in his left. To the left, Gaia stands facing right, holding a cornucopia overflowing with ears of corn; to the right, Thalassa stands facing left, resting a rudder upon a dolphin. Centrally, below the imperial statue, an eagle stands facing with wings spread, head turned left, holding a wreath in its talons — a symbol of divine imperial sanction. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, names the presiding asiarch and records Laodicea's neocorate status. |
