| Beschrijving keerzijde | Elaborate sacrificial scene set before a hexastyle temple. Caracalla, togate, stands left at the left of the composition, extending a patera in his right hand and holding a roll in his left, facing toward the temple. Between the emperor and the temple, a victimarius stands left, raising a mallet to strike a humped bull standing right, the sacrificial animal positioned centrally. Within the intercolumniation of the six-columned temple, Asclepius stands facing, holding his serpent-entwined staff. The legend identifying the strategos and the neocorate status of the city runs around the field. |
