| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, portrayed in three-quarter rear view, with elaborate paludamentum folds visible across the left shoulder and segmented cuirass at the truncation. The emperor's hair is rendered in tight curls characteristic of Severan portraiture, and a short beard frames the strong facial features. A dotted border encircles the entire design. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕ, identifying the emperor as Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus. |
