The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic short curly hair beneath the laurel wreath, with the paludamentum and segmented cuirass rendered in fine detail. The encircling Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan. A circular countermark is visible in the field to the right of the bust, a feature commonly encountered on provincial bronze issues of this period and region. |

Flanking the central figure are two personifications: to the right stands Phrygia, depicted as a female figure facing right, holding ears of grain and a sceptre, representing the agricultural wealth of the region; to the left stands Caria, a female figure facing left, holding a branch and cornucopia. The composition celebrates Laodicea's role as a neokorate city and its geographical and cultural connections with the surrounding provinces of Phrygia and Caria. The reverse legend encircles the design, referencing the city's prestigious neokorate status. |
