Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I (Thrax) facing right, rendered in three-quarter front view, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is boldly modelled in the provincial style characteristic of Pergamene civic coinage. A circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, naming the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is broad and heavy, consistent with the large-module bronze medallion-like issues of the Pergamene mint during the Severan and Maximinian periods.
