| 背面描述 | Elaborate three-figure civic composition in which Zeus of Laodicea occupies the centre of the field, standing facing and depicted holding an eagle in one outstretched hand and a long sceptre in the other. Flanking him symmetrically are the twin Nemeses of Smyrna, each standing and facing inward toward Zeus, both engaged in the characteristic gesture of plucking at their chiton at the breast. The left Nemesis holds a bridle, an attribute symbolising restraint and divine retribution, while the right Nemesis holds a cubit rule, emblematic of equitable measure. The reverse legend, distributed across the field, records the name and title of the asiarch or sophist responsible for the coin's issue, along with abbreviated references to both Smyrna and Laodicea, reflecting the alliance coinage (homonoia) struck between the two cities. |
