The scene is dynamically composed in the tradition of large Asiatic provincial bronzes, with Nike occupying the left field and the emperor the right. The reverse legend, distributed around the periphery of the field in Greek script, names the local magistrates responsible for the issue and identifies the civic authority of Mytilene. |
