The composition emphasises the goddess's role as Magna Mater and patron deity of the region, a common type for Lydian civic bronzes of the Antonine period. The reverse legend naming the strategos Ailios Herakleides encircles the field, confirming the magistrate's civic authority. The die-work is robust and typical of the larger provincial bronzes struck at Magnesia ad Sipylum. |
