| Obverse description | Bare-headed half-length bust of Antinous facing right, with characteristically full, wavy hair rendered in fine detail and the youthful idealized features associated with his posthumous heroic cult iconography. The bust is shown draped, truncated at the chest, and presented in a three-quarter frontal pose. The encircling legend identifying the subject as a hero runs around the periphery of the flan. The portraiture reflects the canonical Hadrianic workshop style in its idealization of the deceased favorite. |
