Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, presented in three-quarter frontal view. The cuirass bears a gorgoneion at the centre, a prominent apotropaic device rendered in relief. An aegis is draped over the left shoulder, and a spear rests against the same shoulder, angled upward. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features associated with Gordian III's official iconography. The encircling obverse legend identifies the emperor by his imperial titulature.
