Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Conventus of Pergamum, with bold, somewhat stylised facial features. The encircling Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The flan is large and irregular, consistent with the heavy civic bronze coinage of Stratonicea Hadrianopolis during the Severan period.
