The figures are rendered in the dignified civic style characteristic of Lydian provincial bronzes under the Antonine dynasty. The reverse field legend ΕΠΙ ϹΤΡΑ ΤΙΤΟΥ ΑΥΡΗ ΒΑΡΒΑΡΟΥ ΘΥΑΤΕΙΡΗΝΩΝ records the name of the local strategos Titus Aurelius Barbaros, as was customary for magistrate-attributed coinage of the Thyatira mint. |
