| Beschrijving keerzijde | Septimius Severus, clad in full military dress, stands facing left, holding in one hand a small statuette of Asclepius (?) in standing pose, an appropriate iconographic reference given Pergamum's celebrated sanctuary of Asclepius. Nike (Victory) stands at his side facing left, crowning the emperor with a wreath and carrying a palm branch, symbolizing imperial triumph and divine favor. The composition reflects the prestige of Pergamum as a twice-neocorate city. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the name of the presiding strategos Iulius Pollio and celebrates the city's double neocorate status. |
