| 背面描述 | Asclepius, god of medicine, seated left on a high-backed throne, his upper body semi-draped; he extends his right hand holding a patera and grasps a tall sceptre with his left hand. A serpent rises from the ground to the left of the seated figure, a canonical attribute of Asclepius. The elaborate multi-line legend filling the field and periphery names the issuing strategos and commemorates the homonoia (concord) between Mytilene, Pergamum, and Ephesus. |

The ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ ("Homonoia") issues of Mytilene were struck as formal expressions of civic concord between cities — in this case, a three-way alliance naming both Pergamon and Ephesos alongside Mytilene itself. These inter-city homonoia coins proliferated under the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus, partly because provincial cities exploited the administrative distraction of a two-emperor system to assert their own diplomatic relationships. The strategos Balaristomachos, named in the obverse legend, was the local magistrate who authorized the issue.
At 40mm and well over 30 grams, this is among the largest bronze fabric produced by Mytilene — the physical scale itself a deliberate statement of civic ambition.
