| Reverse description | The emperor, in military dress, stands in a quadriga advancing left, holding an aplustre in one hand and a long sceptre in the other. Nike flies left behind him, extending a wreath to crown the emperor and carrying a palm branch, symbolising victory. A male attendant figure stands before the horses, facing left and glancing back toward the emperor, guiding or restraining the team. In the background, a military trophy is depicted atop a raised base or altar. The partial ethnic legend ΜΥΤΙΛΗΝΑΙΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the civic issuing authority of Mytilene. |
