The youthful effigy displays the slightly fleshy features and dreamy expression associated with Hadrianic representations of the deified favourite. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΝΤΙΝΟΟϹ ΗΡΩϹ, identifying the subject as the hero Antinous, distributed across the field on either side of the bust. |
