Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted seen from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view. The youthful imperial effigy displays carefully rendered curly hair beneath the laurel wreath, with visible folds of the paludamentum over the shoulder and scale-pattern cuirass on the chest. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is executed in the provincial Greek tradition typical of Mysian civic coinage of the Severan period.
