| Beschrijving keerzijde | Homonoia type reverse depicting two civic deities in a composition symbolic of the alliance between Hierapolis and Sardis. To the left, Apollo stands facing right, holding a plectrum in his right hand and a lyre in his left, representing the principal deity of Hierapolis. To the right, the archaic cult statue of Kore of Sardis stands frontally, wearing a tall polos crown surmounted by a crescent, emblematic of her chthonic and astral character. Between the two figures, a poppy and ears of grain are rendered in the field, referencing the goddess's Demeter-related attributes. The reverse legend inscribed around the field proclaims the Homonoia, or civic concord, between the two cities. |
