| Obverse description | Youthful, lightly bearded bust of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar, bare-headed, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right in three-quarter frontal view. The effigy displays the characteristic early portrait style of the young Caesar prior to his adoption of a full beard, with finely rendered drapery folds across the left shoulder. The encircling legend identifies the subject as Marcus Aurelius Verus Caesar. The Rho in the inscription is rendered in the distinctive Ϸ (Sho) form, a notable epigraphic peculiarity of certain Phrygian civic issues. |
