| Beschrijving keerzijde | Asclepius, the god of medicine, depicted standing facing in the field, clad in a long himation draped over his left shoulder and arm, his weight resting on a tall serpent-entwined staff (the kerykeion of Asclepius) held in his right hand. The figure is rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition befitting the prestigious sanctuary city of Pergamum, long associated with the cult of Asclepius. The lengthy Greek legend, referencing the strategos Cominius Flavius Glykon and Pergamum's triple neocorate status, is distributed around the periphery of the flan. |
